B2B punch-out ordering with an ERP order gateway
An admin console, customer portal and e-commerce front end backed by an API that manages customer carts, punch-out users and orders, and posts approved orders to an ERP.
The challenge
Industrial and corporate buyers want to order through their procurement systems, while suppliers must reconcile those orders with ERP, stock and customer-specific pricing. Manual order entry and per-customer set-up create delays and errors.
What we built
A Node.js and MongoDB API provides role- and permission-based admin access, customer and user management, carts with expiry, order listing and export, and an audit trail of before/after values. Orders are converted into ERP payloads, including PO numbers, ship-to and bill-to codes, payment method and supplier account references, and posted to an ERP service with the result written back to the order. Punch-out users and their data are managed through the admin app, and stock-reservation orders can be reviewed, corrected and re-sent. Revenue and customer data are synced from the ERP, and expired carts are cleaned by a scheduled job.
Key capabilities
- Role and permission management with per-action audit trail of before and after values
- Order list, filtering and export plus order submission to an ERP with status write-back
- Cart management with global, customer and user settings and scheduled expiry cleanup
- Punch-out user management in the admin app
- Stock-reservation order review, correction and email resend
- Customer and revenue data synchronisation from the ERP
What it delivers
- Removes manual re-keying by turning web orders into structured ERP submissions
- Keeps order failures visible with the ERP response stored on the order for follow-up
- Gives administrators fine-grained control of who can see and change what, with a change history
- Packages three front ends and one API behind an automated container build pipeline
